Peles Castle is one of our main attraction and is situated at the foot of Bucegi Mountains, in the picturesque town of Sinaia. Is considered to be one of the most amazing castle in Europe, beeing a masterpiece of German new-Renaissance arhitecture.
The castle was commissioned by King Carol I in 1873 and finished in 1883. It was the summer residence of the royal family until 1947. The castle has 160 rooms adorned with the finest examples of European art.
Peles Castle was the first European castle entirely lit by electrical current, the electricity beeing produced by the castle’s own plant. Having also an air conditioning system (that still works today), was something very special for that period of time.
King Ferdinand, who succeeded Carol I on the throne, commissioned the smaller, art-nouveau-style Pelisor Castle, nearby.
Sinaia is a well-known ski resort, and the surrounding towns of Busteni, Azuga and Predeal, provide many facilities for an active vacation. From ski and hiking trails to wildlife viewing.
Very close to the Peles Castle is also situated Bran Castle and Rasnov Citadel.
